Schick Hydro Partners with Toronto Maple Leafs Zach Hyman for “The Man I Am” Campaign

Schick Hydro launched its “The Man I Am” campaign content series featuring Zach Hyman, left-winger for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Schick Hydro selected Hyman for the campaign because he is as comfortable toughing it out in the corners as he is writing a new children’s book. This campaign embraces the individuality of every man, all while sticking to what Schick Hydro knows best: grooming.

“We saw Zach as a perfect fit for this content series, he’s a regular renaissance man who people may know primarily as a tough professional athlete, but beyond that, he is a children's book author and owner of an e-sports company,” said Christine Jew, Brand Manager, Men’s Shave, Edgewell Personal Care. “We wanted to share Zach’s story of how he’s embraced his individuality and how that has molded him into the man he is today to inspire men of all walks of life to do the same.”

“My parents always encouraged me to be true to myself and not judge a book by its cover. I believe that is an important lesson to pass on to young people of every generation. Part of that is pursuing your passions and finding ways to express yourself and I find that through writing children’s books,” says Zach Hyman. “Embracing your individuality is something I practice every day, which is why I felt it was a natural fit to partner with Schick Hydro on the 'The Man I Am' campaign content series.”

The “The Man I Am” campaign celebrates the idea of being yourself through:

  • A content series with Toronto Maple Leafs player Zach Hyman and Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni, Gary Roberts. This exclusive series features Zach Hyman and Gary Roberts, each of whom have more to them than meets the eye from their main job as professional hockey players. The content series shows the pair in a locker room discussion about what makes them the men they are today.
  • A fresh, new integrated brand campaign: Produced with ad agency MullenLowe, “The Man I Am™” campaign helps reinforce and celebrate the individuality and authenticity of men from all walks of life. The debut video ads feature Kevin Carroll and ZU-nA — real men, not actors, who were carefully chosen based on the way they expressed themselves in found user-generated content. The additional integrated campaign work features a spectrum of diverse men who aren’t afraid to be themselves, and who can confidently say, “This is the man I am, and this is the shave I want.”
