Fall into Fitness

We can’t live in denial much longer; fall is coming. Say goodbye to impromptu cottage getaways and evening ice cream cones and hello to crisp autumn air and pumpkin spice lattes.

Speaking of new beginnings, fall is a great time to kick-start your fitness routine! With the gorgeous autumn colours enveloping the Capital landscape, now is a better time than ever to get outside, get moving and soak in the beauty of the changing seasons!

Lucky for us, Gatineau Park has some of the most scenic trails to take advantage of, and it’s only a 15-minute drive from the city! How lucky are we to have this stunning national park at our fingertips? So grab the bike, head out for a run or bring along the family for a weekend hike. Whatever you prefer, Gatineau Park is a must-see this fall.

Champlain Lookout

15At the top of the Eardley Escarpment is Champlain Lookout. The most well-known and popular view in Gatineau Park, the fall colours paint an unbelievable landscape. You’ll be able to have a bird’s-eye view from the Gatineau Hills over the sprawling Ottawa Valley. The view is unique because it shows two of Canada's major geological formations side by side: the Canadian Shield and the St. Lawrence Lowlands. Take advantage of the 1.2-kilometer walking trail that runs along the edge of the Eardley Escarpment!

Étienne Brûlé Lookout

Also located on the Champlain Parkway is the The Étienne Brûlé Lookout, which offers a gorgeous view of the Ottawa River. This area connects to various hiking and mountain biking trails.

Pink Lake Lookout

The Pink Lake Lookout, located on the Gatineau Parkway near the Park’s southern entrance, offers serene views and interesting ecology. Pink Lake is a must-see for all ages, and the trail that winds around the lake is a perfect opportunity to sneak in some activity!

These are just a few of the spot1301418663IH2mTs9Us I’d recommend checking out this fall, but Gatineau Park has much more to offer! Check out their website here to find the perfect trail or activity for you!

So pack up some trail mix and a crisp, McIntosh apple for the road and kick-start your fall fitness routine in the great outdoors. And, if you can’t make it to Gatineau Park, we always have the beautiful Rideau Canal to put to use!
