Pure Kitchen

While vegetarian restaurant and juice bar Pure Kitchen strives to provide extensive options for herbivores (all dishes can be made vegan), omnivores will be just as enthusiastic about their creative takes on veggie focused meals. Grain bowls, mushroom burgers and cauliflower wings combined with an extensive smoothie and juice menu provide some refreshing variance to vegan cuisine, proving it much more than just rabbit food.

The Green Door

This vegetarian buffet is a community favourite. The staff is friendly, the dishes are light and the atmosphere is calm and casual. The recent renovations have expanded the space while maintaining the neighborly comradery. Make sure to try their tofu broccoli or quiche.

The Table

Serving the Ottawa community from their Hintonburg location for almost two decades, this award-winning all vegan restaurant is a destination spot for local vegans and vegetarians and perfect for those who need lots of accommodations. Pay by weight as you pick and choose from the globally inspired menu with lots of organic, raw and gluten-free choices. We love their vegan spanakopitas.

Café My House

The five- and ten-course vegetable focused tasting menu of Café My House on Wellington West is the brain child of Chef Briana Kim. It’s so good that it’s award-winning, earning Kim the top prize in 2017 at the prestigious Gold Medal Plates competition. Supplement your plant based charcuterie with one of the selection of natural wines and unique cocktails. They also do an awesome brunch.

Citizen

Tucked away on Gilmour Street is this wine and cocktail bar that is so inconspicuous you might miss it. However, that would be a travesty considering how amazing their food is. Run by the same owners as Town on neighbouring Elgin Street, they recently launched a Meatless Monday menu that changes each week, featuring creative dishes that everyone will love no matter their dietary restrictions.

The first and only restaurant of its kind in the capital, this chickpea-only eatery in the Trainyards is well worth the trip. They serve various creative flavours of hummus, from the failsafe to the fruity, as well as falafel plates and salads. However, they are most famous for their Fawaffle (a waffle made from falafel). All of their dishes use 100% organic chickpeas without any preservatives or additives and that are never frozen or canned.

The goal at this restaurant is to be inclusive and cater to everyone’s food preferences, stemming from the dietary differences between the family members who run the place. The head chef infuses her passion into everything that she makes. Originally from Vietnam with over 10 years of experience running the kitchen of a Chinatown restaurant, it’s no wonder that her authentic Thai, Cantonese and Vietnamese fine cuisine tastes so delicious. We’re obsessed with their signature roasted pineapple dessert.

Wild Oat Bakery

Since 1998, the Wild Oat has served to its clients the highest quality ingredients possible in each of its dishes and products while has tried to keep fair prices. By growing its own ingredients, the Wild Oat offers the most nutritious, healthy and delicious vegetarian recipes. During the summer months, the Wild Oat bring to its clients many varieties of veggies that are transformed into delicious meals, sandwiches and other house-made products.

Raw Pulp and Grind

The colourful smoothies, lattes and breakfast bowls served at this coffee shop/juice bar/café hybrid are almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Head into the original location in Little Italy or the new one in Westboro to feel instantly refreshed and pick up a cold-pressed juice so delicious that it will convert even the biggest green-juice skeptic.

The Fuel Bar

Smack in the middle of corporate downtown sits this little spot specializing in smoothies, salads and sandwiches. Founded by a holistic nutritionist and a business expert with 35 years of experience, their menu is all about balanced, wholesome and flavourful nourishment using local and organic building blocks. It’s food that feels good, designed to provide energy and self-care on the go. They also make some killer energy balls.
